Description
Hyophorbe lagenicaulis – Bottle Palm
Family: Arecaceae
Packet Size: 8 Seeds
Description
Bottle Palm is a distinctive palm native to Round Island near Mauritius. Mature specimens may develop a smooth, strongly swollen lower trunk that resembles a bottle, topped with a compact crown of arching feather fronds.
It is slow growing and especially attractive where the unusual trunk can be appreciated close-up. Young plants do not immediately develop the bottle shape; this becomes more evident as the palm matures.
