Description

Brachychiton australis, known as the Broad-leaved Bottle Tree or Broad-leaved Bottletree, is a distinctive Australian native tree endemic to Queensland. It is found naturally in seasonal monsoon forest and dry vine thickets, often on rocky sites.

Its broad, often deeply lobed leaves form an attractive leafy canopy. During the cooler, drier part of the year, the tree commonly sheds its leaves and produces clusters of small white to cream flowers, sometimes appearing pale yellow. The cup-shaped, velvety flowers may have brownish hairs on their outer surfaces.

As it matures, the tree develops a strong trunk and a spreading crown, making it a handsome feature for larger gardens, parks, and dry tropical landscapes.
