The Brazilian Fern Tree is one of the fastest-growing trees in the world, renowned for its slender, smooth trunk and a striking crown of feathery, fern-like leaves. During its flowering season, the tree is covered in a spectacular display of bright yellow blossoms, highly attractive to bees and other pollinators. This species is an excellent choice for creating a fast canopy or a tropical statement piece in larger landscapes.

Directions For Successful Germination

  1. Heat Scarification: Place the seeds in a container. Use boiled water that has cooled slightly so as not to crack the seeds or damage the sensitive embryo. Pour it over the seeds and leave them to soak overnight.

  2. Sowing: The following day, plant the seeds in a free-draining soil mix (such as a dedicated seed-raising mix or a blend of peat, perlite, and clean river sand). Just cover the seed with a light layer of soil.

  3. Moisture Control: Keep the medium moist to the touch, but ensure it is not waterlogged or soaked.

  4. Mini-Greenhouse: To maintain humidity, cover the pot with plastic wrap or a clear plastic bottle cut in half to create a mini-greenhouse effect.

  5. Warmth and Light: Keep the seeds in a warm environment, such as a garden shed, greenhouse, or a sunny windowsill, until germination occurs.
