Care and Maintenance
- ✂️ Pruning: Cut back to the base of the stem after flowering, pruning any browning leaves.
- 🧪 Feeding: Mulch and liquid fertilise in Summer and protect from direct sunlight. Fertilise with Seasol Seaweed Concentrate after the plant has produced leaves and continue to fertilise once a month.
- ✅ General: Green foliage all year round. Low maintenance and tough in dry conditions. Grow well under the shade of trees. Early morning sun or dappled shade. Protect from frost. Looks great potted on a patio as their roots prefer to be undisturbed as long as they are not overwatered.
Germination Method Recommendation
Thank you for purchasing. The following is the germination method that we recommend:
- Prepare your mix: Get a seed-raising mix from Bunnings or a soft soil mix such as 2/3 Peat moss and 1/3 Perlite.
- Fill the pot: Place the soil in a pot.
- Sow the seeds: Place the seeds on the soil and gently press into the soil halfway so the seeds are still visible.
- Moisture: Keep moist but not soaked.
- Germination: Within 10-14 days you will see a shoot come up.
- Nudge if needed: Push the seedling into the soil if it isn’t in far enough.
- Light & Feeding: Clivia will thrive in the shade with filtered light and limited direct sunlight. Fertilise with Seasol Seaweed Concentrate after the plant has produced leaves and continue to fertilise once a month.
- Enjoy your flowers!
* Another method: You could also try wrapping the seeds in a paper towel, wet it and place in a zip-lock bag. Place in a warm, dry place such as a windowsill until you see shoots start to form, then place in a seed-raising mix. (You could try both to see which one you prefer.)
